Sand filter uses a unique type of sand in its filtration system. It works by forcing the water through a tank to the bed of sand where dirt and debris are trapped. The clean water and dirty water are being separated by lateral tubes and then pushed to the sand where all the solid particles are filtered out. Afterwards, the filtered water are sent back to the pool.

2. Diatomaceous Earth Filter (DE Filter)

This pool filter utilizes diatomaceous earth for its filtration system. It constructed with plastic grids laid over a special fabric that effectively sorts out all the unwanted dirt and debris. It works by pushing the water through the fabric where solid particles are filtered out. DE filter has the ability to filter even the smallest particle unlike the sand filter.

3. Cartridge Filter

Among the three types of pool filter, cartridge filter is the cheapest. It has a unique paper filter inside wherein the water is scanned from dirt and debris while passing through it. Unlike the sand and DE filter, cartridge filter cannot filter large-sized debris and dirt. It should also be cleaned regularly to prevent the filter from clogging.
